Welcome to the website of the Unitarian Universalists in Greece

We are an open-minded international spiritual community committed to:

• In support of the intrinsic worth and dignity of every human being

• respect and acceptance for all beliefs: humanism, theism, atheism, agnosticism...

• In the freedom of search, in the search for meaning and inspiration

The Unitarian Universalist community is unique from other religious denominations in that it does not have any Creed or Theological Doctrine that a person needs to accept or agree to in order to come to us. In this community everyone is welcome and invited regardless of religion, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, income or marital status.

WHO WE ARE THE UNITARIAN UNIVERSALISTS

We are people of all ages, people of many backgrounds and people of many beliefs.

We are brave, curious and compassionate thinkers and doers.

We create spirituality and community across borders, working for more justice and more love in our lives and in the world.

Unitarian Universalists affirms and promotes seven Principles, based on the humanitarian teachings of the world's religions.

Our spirituality is unbounded, drawing from scripture and science, nature and philosophy, personal experience and ancient tradition, as described in our six Sources.

We don't think we need to think alike, but to love alike.

We are people who believe in God and people who don't. In our community we include Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Trans, Queer.

We are people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. We seek to welcome you: your whole self, with all your truths and your doubts, your worries and your hopes.

THE 7 PRINCIPLES AND THE 6 SOURCES OF UNITARIAN UNIVERSALISM

We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote:
• The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
• Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
• Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
• A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
• The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
• The goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all;
• Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

The living tradition which we share draws from many sources:
• Direct experience of that transcending mystery and wonder, affirmed in all cultures, which moves us to a renewal of the spirit and an openness to the forces which create and uphold life;
• Words and deeds of prophetic people which challenge us to confront powers and structures of evil with justice, compassion and the transforming power of love;
• Wisdom from the world's religions which inspires us in our ethical and spiritual life;
• Jewish and Christian teachings which call us to respond to God's love by loving our neighbors as ourselves;
• Humanist teachings which counsel us to heed the guidance of reason and the results of science, and warn us against idolatries of the mind and spirit;
• Spiritual teachings of Earth-centered traditions which celebrate the sacred circle of life and instruct us to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature.

Grateful for the religious pluralism which enriches and ennobles our faith, we are inspired to deepen our understanding and expand our vision. As free congregations we enter into this covenant, promising to one another our mutual trust and support.
